A few odd things from this week. We watched the pumpkin carving demo at the Fair last week and came home to promptly try it out. No way. Just no way. Didn't have the right pumpkin, the right tools or the right skill. Wish this was what I had ended up with.
My favorite pumpkin at the State Fair...the pursed lips are the most amazing part of this thing.
Here's my second favorite.
And then yesterday I was at a new, (amazing) chiropractor, Swiss Spine Clinic. He is indeed Swiss, and very good. I picked up a Time magazine in the waiting area and saw a few statistic-type things I thought were interesting.
And my favorite:
During my lengthy interview and check up, Dr. G asked me repeatedly whether I'd been in a wreck, (which I haven't in 35 years) and after treating me I left, was driving very responsibly through the parking lot at a nearby Bojangles, when someone hits the gas hard as he backs up. Right into me. Hard. I do mean hard. My car went sideways about 3 feet.
I felt so bad for the kid. He was 16, in a brand new Nissan Altima, still bearing his temporary plates. He was really nice, immediately called his mom, told her what had happened, took the blame entirely and it went smoothly from there on out.
I was really impressed with his car. As hard as I was hit, his corner bumper with which he hit me was dented good, but otherwise, in amazingly good condition.
I promptly called Dr. G and left a message about my jinx, and a need for another appointment.
At least I don't have to pay for either.
